Arsenal move above Chelsea
One of the amazing byproducts of Man City’s six 6-0 win over Arsenal on Sunday was that Arsenal moved up the table.
In the Sunday Times, before the match at the Etihad Stadium, Graeme Souness wrote off Arsenal’s top four chance.
Souness argued that the final Champions League berth was a fight between Man United and Chelsea.
But after shipped six goals against City, Chelsea slipped behind Arsenal in the league on goal difference.
Man United are fourth with 51 points. Arsenal are fifth and Chelsea are sixth on 50 points.
Jamie Carragher: Chelsea are the new Arsenal
During Sunday’s broadcast of Man City vs Chelsea on Sky Sports, Jamie Carragher ripped into the Blues.
During the halftime break, at which point Chelsea were already 3-nil down, Carragher compared the Blues to Arsenal:
City have been outstanding, but this has been as bad as anything from Chelsea this season.
It’s only halfway through Sarri’s first season but the worst thing I can say is it looks like he has turned Chelsea into Arsenal.
The Arsenal team that has got battered away from home in the last seven or eight years because they have been too weak. You couldn’t say that about Chelsea in the past, but this looks like a weak team.
Maurizio Sarri after Man City
After the match ended on Sunday, Maurizio Sarri drew attention for his post match behaviour.
Sarri ignored convention by heading immediately down the tunnel.
As a result, Sarri never shook Pep Guardiola’s hand.
