A social media post from Chelsea star Mason Mount has been garnering widespread attention online this evening.
20-year-old attacking midfielder Mount has been on Chelsea’s books since 2005.
After making his way through the club’s youth setup over the years that followed, an impressive debut campaign in professional football on loan with Eredivisie outfit Vitesse subsequently saw Mount lured to the Championship by Derby County last season.
And it was at Pride Park that the English international truly began to make a name for himself.
Under the guidance of now-Chelsea boss Frank Lampard, Mount played an integral role in the Rams’ midfield, racking up 9 goals and 4 assists across 38 league appearances.
As such, when Lampard was handed the reins at Stamford Bridge this past summer, it came as little surprise when the Blues legend opted to install Mount into his first-team setup.
And the gifted midfielder has since gone on to take to the rigours of the English top-flight like a duck to water, having earned starts in all 12 of Chelsea’s fixtures thus far, whilst directly contributing to 5 goals.
‘That’s all you do’
Mount, though, as is the case with any professional footballer, was once little more than a talented youngster looking up to the finest players on the planet.
And the 20-year-old has today taken to social media, to post a video of himself, mimicking the free-kick technique of one of the greatest to ever do it.
The individual in question? Cristiano Ronaldo.
Footage from a Chelsea youth training session showcases Mount smashing a wonderful set-piece over the wall and beyond the helpless goalkeeper, utilising the knuckeball technique utilised to devastating effect by Ronaldo during the earlier years of his career.
