The reliable Kristof Terreur has this morning provided updates on the respective interest of Manchester United and Leicester City in Monaco midfielder Youri Tielemans.
Belgian international midfielder Tielemans made the surprise move to the King Power Stadium this past January, on a 6-month loan deal from Ligue 1 giants Monaco.
And the 22-year-old, who’s career had stuttered somewhat since joining Monaco from Anderlecht in 2017, subsequently went on to enjoy a superb spell with the Foxes.
Tielemans’ combination of technical ability, creative spark and eye for goal saw him quickly establish himself as a fixture in Leicester’s starting XI over the second-half of the campaign.
All told, across 13 Premier League appearances, the midfielder directly contributed to 7 goals.
Crucially, however, Leicester did not secure an option to make Tielemans’ move to the club permanent this summer.
As such, he has since returned to Monaco, though another departure from the Stade Louis, this time on a permanent basis, appears imminent.
Recent weeks have seen a number of English giants named as keen admirers of Tielemans’ talents.
Leicester, Manchester United and Tottenham have been the sides most-persistently touted as potential destinations for the Belgian.
As per the aforementioned update courtesy of Kristof Terreur of Belgian outlet HLN, though, Spurs appear to have dropped out of the race for Tielemans.
Manchester United, on the other hand, are pushing forward with their interest, having made contact with his representatives once again.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is said to be an admirer of the talents of the gifted midfielder, with the Red Devils paying ‘close attention’ to the situation.
Finally, Leicester remain hopeful of getting a deal done, with Terreur also assuring that the 22-year-old will not be plying his trade with Monaco next season.

When questioned on the interest of Spurs and Manchester United in his signature two weeks ago, Tielemans had the following to say:
‘(They) are really big teams in England and in Europe so yeah, it’s flattering to hear those names.’
‘For me, it’s good. It gives me confidence. I’ll just try to play my game on the pitch and to do my best.’
