Tottenham boss Mourinho denies talks with Arsenal over job

Mourinho & Arsenal

Before taking over at Tottenham earlier this month Jose Mourinho had been out of work for some time.

Mourinho was sacked by Manchester United back in December of 2018 and had yet to find a job.

And when Unai Emery was still Arsenal boss there were rumours that Mourinho could have been a candidate to replace him.

According to the Evening Standard, there were reports that Mourinho had dinner with Arsenal’s head of football Raul Sanllehi in early November.

However, Mourinho has now denied claims of any talks.

When asked if he or his representatives had ever held discussions about replacing Emery, Mourinho stated:

“No, no. Of course, I never denied – because I never deny things – but when it was written that I was in a meeting with Mr. Sanllehi, it was not true.” As quoted by the Evening Standard.

Tottenham vs Bournemouth

Mourinho is now of course Tottenham boss and is set to take charge of his third game on Saturday afternoon.

Mourinho would beat West Ham and Greek outfit Olympiacos in his first two outings.

Spurs will now play host to Bournemouth on Saturday afternoon. Tottenham begin the day 10th in the English top-flight but they could be as high as 5th by the end of the day, should they beat Eddie Howe’s men.

The Cherries are not in the best form, losing their last two ties.

And given the Lilywhites are much better at home recently, a third successive win for Mourinho’s men seems quite likely.
