Neymar unable to get his wish
Barcelona striker Luis Suarez has claimed Paris Saint-Germain’s Neymar did ‘everything he could’ to return to the Camp Nou over the summer.
In possibly the biggest transfer saga of the summer, Neymar was heavily linked with a return to Barcelona.
The Brazilian left the Camp Nou back in 2017 for Paris Saint-Germain, where he’s scored an impressive 51 goals in 58 appearances.
Though, despite his form is Paris, it was reported that Neymar wanted to leave France over the summer.
As the summer went on, there was more and more reports discussing several Barcelona moves for Neymar.
Now, Luis Suarez has claimed Neymar did all he could to force through a move.
“Now, his decision was to try and do everything he could to come back”
Speaking while on international duty, Suarez revealed he and Lionel Messi spoke to Neymar over the summer.
“We were speaking [in the group] from time to time, but not so much recently,” Neymar explained to Fox Sports radio, as cited by Mirror.
“Now a little bit more because it’s calmed down. It’s been difficult because Ney was going through a complicated moment so we wanted to respect his time and space.”
When asked about Neymar’s initial departure from Barcelona, Suarez revealed he and Messi tried to convince Neymar to stay.
While that didn’t prove successful, Suarez did reveal Neymar had a change of heart over the summer and did ‘everything he could to come back’.
“We spoke with Neymar when he first wanted to leave [Barcelona],” he continued.
“Everyone knew he wanted to leave.
“We [Me and Messi] said to him that he will not have a better club or [more chance to win] prizes than here.
“But he made his decision. At that moment, he decided what was for the best for him. Now, his decision was to try and do everything he could to come back.”
