Liverpool’s Alexander-Arnold earns Guinness World Record

TAA earns world record

Trent Alexander-Arnold had a simply outstanding 2018/19 campaign.

Despite only just turning 21 earlier this month, Alexander-Arnold is already cementing himself as one of the top full-backs in the English top-flight and perhaps even Europe.

The England international would feature in 29 of Liverpool’s 38 league outings last season.

As well as helping Liverpool keep the tightest defence in the Premier League last term, TAA would also rack up a staggering 12 assists in those 29 games.

12 assists from 29 games is a simply phenomenal return for a full-back. And it has also earned the young defender a world record.

Liverpool would announce on Wednesday that Alexander-Arnold has bagged himself a place in the Guinness World Records book for claiming the most English Premier League assists by a defender in a single season (12).

On earning the record TAA stated:

“It’s an honour. I’ve always wanted to go forward and help the team to create as many chances as possible.

“It’s obviously down to the lads to put the ball into the back of the net, because football is a team game and without them, the manager and all the support in the background, this record wouldn’t be possible.

“I always used to read [the Guinness World Records book] as a kid because they’re fun to read, to see the different records and what people are up to all around the world. It’s an unbelievably proud moment for me and all of my family – and hopefully something that will stand for a few years.” As quoted by Liverpool’s official website.

Man United vs Liverpool

Alexander-Arnold has continued his fine form into the 2019/20 campaign.
