MW12 round-up

Match week 12 of the 2019/20 Premier League season drew to a close on Sunday evening.

The weekend was once again jampacked with enthralling matches that culminated in Liverpool vs Manchester City.

MW12 began on Saturday at Stamford Bridge with Chelsea playing host to Crystal Palace.

Chelsea continued their emphatic start to life under Frank Lampard with a comprehensive 2-0 victory.

Saturday’s 3 pm fixtures then saw Burnley put West Ham to the sword by three goals to nil, Newcastle saw off Bournemouth, Everton earned a much-needed win over Southampton and Tottenham drew with Sheffield United.

Saturday’s Premier League action was capped off with Arsenal losing 2-0 to Leicester City who are now up to 2nd in the English top-flight.

Sunday’s early PL ties then saw Manchester United dominate Brighton, emerging with a 3-1 victory and Wolves beating Aston Villa by two goals to one.

The final PL game of the weekend was a real showstopper between Liverpool and Manchester City.

Jurgen Klopp’s men would emerge from the tie with a 3-1 victory, boosting their title hopes dramatically.

With MW12 now over, Alan Shearer has named his latest Premier League Team of the Week.

Somewhat unsurprisingly, Liverpool feature quite heavily with Andy Robertson, Fabinho and Dejan Lovren all named in the TOTW.

Leicester also had a trio of players named in the TOTW with Jamie Vardy, James Maddison and Jonny Evans all featuring.
