Liverpool boss Klopp on possibility of taking over German national team

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has this evening opened up on the prospect of replacing Joachim Löw as the manager of Germany.

Liverpool stint

German tactician Klopp has been the man in charge at Liverpool for a little over 4 years now, since joining the Reds from Borussia Dortmund in 2015.

And, following a first couple of seasons during which he often flattered to deceive on Merseyside, the last 12 months+ have since seen the former Mainz boss begin to silence any and all doubters.

A record-breaking campaign last time out, during which his Liverpool side were pipped to the Premier League title by a solitary point, was swiftly followed by redemption in Europe, as Klopp guided the Reds to their latest Champions League crown, and, in the process, his first piece of silverware with the club.

This has since been followed by a blistering opening to the new season on the part of the Anfield outfit, which has seen Liverpool race out to an early 8-point lead atop the English top-flight table.

‘Would think about it’

When questioned on his plans for the long-term of late, though, Klopp has persistently hinted at a Liverpool exit over the coming years.

As such, speaking in an interview with Magenta TV earlier today, the German was drawn on whether he would consider taking over the reins of his country’s national side in the near future.

And, though he admitted that, as things stand, he ‘does not feel like it’, Klopp went on to add that he would certainly ‘think about’ the opportunity:

‘I really cannot say. I do not know if I would like to.’

‘Now, as of today, I do not feel like it. Stand up now, I’m totally happy with what I do and that’s important in the whole story.’

‘I also could not say one hundred per cent if I was the right one [to replace Low].’

‘If the question ever arises, I would think about it – but not now.’
