Gary Neville after Man City 3 – Manchester United 1
Following Sunday’s Manchester derby, which City won 3-1 against United, Gary Neville recorded his latest podcast for Sky Sports.
When it came to assessing the Manchester rivals, Neville reached the obvious conclusion.
Man City are lightyears ahead of Manchester United right now. Neville commented:
Manchester City are 12 points clear of Manchester United with 12 games gone in the season. It’s sobering really.
(Man City) are miles in front of Manchester United at this time.
Mourinho’s Tottenham & Arsenal problems
Perhaps the most alarming set of comments made by Gary Neville came when considering Man United’s hopes of finishing in this season’s top four.
Last season Man United finished as runners-up to City in the league.
Yet, after 12 matches this season, United are only eighth in the division with 20 points on the board.
United are four points behind fifth-placed Arsenal, and seven points behind fourth-placed Tottenham.
On Man United’s Champions League qualification hopes this season, Neville made the following assessment:
United are nowhere near City, but they can’t afford to be many points behind Tottenham and Arsenal and Liverpool and Chelsea. At this moment there is real pressure in terms of whether you think Manchester United will finish in the top four this season.
(You) can’t judge Manchester United off today because they were nowhere near this team. You have to judge them against Tottenham, Liverpool, Arsenal and Chelsea.
