Champions League final to be shown live for free in the UK

Liverpool close their season with another Champions League final as they take on Tottenham in Madrid on June 1, with supporters able to watch it live for free.

The Reds head to the Wanda Metropolitano looking to go one better than last year, when they lost 3-1 to Real Madrid in Kyiv.

Victory over Spurs would secure the first trophy of Jurgen Klopp‘s reign, and the sixth European Cup in the club’s storied history following 1977, 1978, 1981, 1985 and 2005.

Both sets of supporters were allocated just 16,600 tickets for the 68,000-seater stadium, ensuring most will be left to watch it at home.

Fortunately, fans in the UK will be able to watch the Champions League final live for free with BT Sport, who will be broadcasting the clash in full on their website, app and YouTube channel.

Viewers with a Virgin TV Box will also be able to watch for free (channel 100; 532 for 4K UHD).

However, only subscribers can watch through their Sky (channel 414) or BT TV setup (channel 431; 433 for 4K UHD).

A press release from BT Sport on Tuesday afternoon added the following:

“App viewers will be able to experience the finals in VR360 on a mobile or tablet, either by selecting a specific camera viewpoint or watching a fully produced programme with commentary from Spencer Owen aka Spencer FC.

“And in a world first, BT Sport subscribers will be able to watch the Champions League final in HD High Dynamic Range (HDR) on the app, ahead of the launch of 4K HDR later this year.”

Tottenham vs. Liverpool will kick off at 8pm (BST), with coverage on BT Sport 2 beginning at 6pm.

The Europa League final between Chelsea and Arsenal on Wednesday, May 29 will also be available to broadcast for free through the same mediums.
