No deadline day signings for Arsenal
Arsenal’s reported move for Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Christopher Nkunku has fallen through due to the Gunners ‘being held by financial commitments’.
The Gunners have been the subject of much transfer speculation over the past couple of weeks.
Unai Emery confirmed that the club are unable to sign players permanently and would instead look to secure loan deals.
“We cannot sign anyone permanently, only loan players this January,” he explained, as quoted by Sky Sports.
That has meant only a select group of players have been available.
The club have already secured the signing of Barcelona’s Denis Suarez on loan with an option to buy.
Though, another player they’ve been looking to sign on loan with an option to buy is set to fall through their fingers.
Christopher Nkunku to remain at PSG
That is because Arsenal’s heavily reported move for Christopher Nkunku has been called off.
According to L’Equipe, as cited by GFFN, the two clubs could not agree the terms of a deal and Arsenal ‘being held by financial commitments’ didn’t help.

It is said that PSG were willing to let the player go and ‘Arsenal and Unai Emery really wanted to sign the 21-year-old’.
Though, they ‘could not agree terms of a loan with option to buy deal’ and that the ‘Gunners found the deal too complicated to agree’.
With Christopher Nkunku’s deal set to expire in the summer of 2020, Arsenal could return to the deal in the summer.
Although, it is yet to be seen whether they would be interested in doing so.
That deal involved a player Unai Emery knows pretty well, Denis Suarez.
Now, people have been speaking about where Suarez could fit into Arsenal’s current squad.
