Arsenal stars take to social media to react to Unai Emery sacking

A host of Arsenal stars have taken to social media over the course of the last 24 hours to provide their respective responses to the club parting ways with Unai Emery.

Emery out

Following weeks of mounting speculation, the news that the Gunners faithful were waiting for was finally made official yesterday morning.

Amid a dismal recent spell of form, which culminated in a 2-1 Europa League defeat at home to Eintracht Frankfurt on Thursday night, Arsenal confirmed that the club had taken the decision to part ways with manager Unai Emery.

In a statement across the north Londoners’ official website and social media platforms, it was announced:

‘We announce today that the decision has been taken to part company with our head coach Unai Emery and his coaching team.’

‘The decision has been taken due to results and performances not being at the level required.’

Freddie Ljungberg has since been handed the role of interim boss at the Emirates, as Arsenal’s search for Emery’s replacement gets underway.

‘We let you down’

On the back of the now-former Arsenal boss’ sacking being made official, meanwhile, a number of reports have subsequently begun to surface, outlining just how badly out of control things had begun to spiral in the club’s dressing room of late.

The Evening Standard have claimed that a number of Gunners stars had openly mocked Emery over recent weeks, over the Spaniard’s 5-man captain system, and broken English.

This comes despite Emery himself having remained dignified and respectful in his demeanour until the very last.

Nevertheless, though, despite widespread claims of unrest amongst the Arsenal squad under Emery’s guidance, a number of the club’s players have since taken to social media to thank the 48-year-old for his hard work and dedication over the last 18 months.

Some, meanwhile, have even gone as far as to suggest that Arsenal’s players let Emery down with their performances:
