Could Pochettino turn his back on Spurs?
Arsenal reportedly see former Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino as a credible option to replace Unai Emery after his sacking on Friday.
Emery was relieved of his duties following the 2-1 loss to Eintracht Frankfurt on Thursday.
Boos sounded out around the Emirates at full-time, with that defeat extending Arsenal’s run winless run to seven games.
That run of poor form under Emery sees Arsenal sat 8th in the Premier League table, eight points off the top four.
Now, after his sacking, the wheels are in motion as the Gunners look for a new manager.
Though, Mauricio Pochettino has emerged as a ‘credible option’ for Arsenal.
Arsenal could try their luck
According to the Atheltic’s David Ornstein, Pochettino is actually in the frame for the Arsenal job.
His report claims Pochettino is ‘viewed by Arsenal as a credible option to become their next permanent head coach after the sacking of Unai Emery.’
The big question remains though, would Pochettino take the job?
The former Spurs boss claimed back in 2017 that it would be impossible for him to manage Arsenal in the future.
“It’s like if one day [the Tottenham chairman] Daniel Levy sacked me – in a few years it would be impossible for me to manage Arsenal,” he was quoted as saying by the Guardian.
As stated by Ornstein, it’s unclear how he would react to an offer from Arsenal after his Spurs sacking.
Despite that, Arsenal seemingly want to try their luck.
