Morata targeting permanent Chelsea exit
Alvaro Morata has expressed his desire to join Atletico Madrid permanently after spending the second half of last season on loan with Diego Simeone.
Morata started last season with Chelsea and struggled to have any impact under new boss Maurizio Sarri.
As a result of his poor performances, the Blues decided to sign Gonzalo Higuain on loan in January and used Olivier Giroud in the Europa League.
Alvaro Morata then joined Atletico Madrid on a two-season loan.
Despite his stay at Atletico lasting until the end of next season, Morata has called for the Spanish club to end his Chelsea misery once and for all.
“Do everything possible to do it as soon as possible because I just want to be here”
Speaking to Goal this week, Morata pleaded with Atletico to get a deal done as soon as possible because ‘I just want to be here’.
“I have said it many times: there is a moment in which there are things that surpass fame, money and everything,” he explained.
“Thank God, at Atletico I’ve been able to have a bit of all of this, but I would love to be here every year that I’m able to play at the highest level.
“I want to stay at Atletico but, contractually, Chelsea can call me back. We will see what happens in the negotiations between them, but the two clubs already know what I want.
“I only ask, please, as I said to Atletico, do everything possible to do it as soon as possible. Because I just want to be here.”
Safe to say, he’s done with Chelsea.
