Liverpool 2 – Chelsea 0
Two goals in three second half minutes earned Liverpool a 2-0 home win over Chelsea on Sunday.
Sadio Mane continued his amazing goal scoring season heading in the opener at the back post after 51 minutes.
Mo Salah found the target soon after with an amazing shot from distance that ripped into the top corner.
Jurgen Klopp was upset
Liverpool moved above Man City following the Chelsea win.
The Reds are two points above the Sky Blues, although City have a game in hand.
Yet, in his post match presser, Jurgen Klopp had a bit of a rant.
The Liverpool manager was reacting to those preempting Man City’s title success. Should that happen, Klopp knows that people will try to identify where Liverpool lost the league.
Klopp hit back at those critics:
Very smart people will come out and say: ‘Yeah, if you would’ve won against Leicester, then you would be champion.
It’s all bullshit. Only weak people and idiots bring something like this up.
And on this point, we can finally close the slipping book. Robbo slipped and nothing happened. It’s not a Liverpool thing. Done.
Maurizio Sarri was happy
Even though Chelsea lost, Maurizio Sarri was happy with his side’s performance at Anfield.
Sarri compared his squad to Chelsea’s top four rivals Arsenal, Man United and Tottenham:
I really am very happy with the performance because we stayed in the match very well, probably three months ago we were not able to stay in this game so we are improving.
It’s very difficult to cover the gap in England because the level is very high, to cover the gap against Liverpool or City is very difficult but now we are really very close to the other teams.
