Jeremie Aliadiere has this afternoon revealed his opinion that former club Arsenal should go all out to secure the signature of Lorient starlet Alexis Claude-Maurice.
Claude-Maurice, a versatile 21-year-old attacker, came up through the youth ranks of Lorient, before breaking into the club’s first-team setup for the first time in 2017.
And the gifted Paris-native has since gone on to establish himself as one of French football’s most highly-regarded young talents.
Claude-Maurice, who possesses both an eye for goal and a creative streak, can play on either wing, in an attacking midfield role, or even as a forward.
Across 35 appearances in Ligue 2 this past season, he racked up 14 goals and 4 assists.
And Claude-Maurice’s impressive showings at the Stade du Moustoir have not gone unnoticed across Europe.
Both Arsenal and West Ham are rumoured to have set their sights on the starlet’s signature this summer.
In fact, reports in the French media last month suggested that both Premier League clubs had seen opening bids rejected by Lorient, with Arsenal ready to return with a second offer:

‘Would be a good step for him’
And former Arsenal star Jeremie Aliadiere, who witnessed first-hand the talents possessed by Claude-Maurice during a brief stint with Lorient to close out his playing days, has this afternoon urged the Gunners’ board to take a ‘gamble’ on his fellow countryman.
Speaking in an interview with football.london, Aliadiere explained:
‘For the money that we talk about, I think he’ll make it. It’s about taking a gamble now when other teams aren’t prepared to.’
‘The market has gone so crazy in the last few years. If you want a top level international, it’s nothing cheaper than £40m.’
‘If they’ve only got £45m to spend you’ve got to shop differently, go a bit younger and sign players from second divisions. He’s a good player and has really good qualities.’
‘At a club like Arsenal that gives chances to young players, it would be a good step for him.’
The former hitman continued:
‘I remember incredible quick feet, a technical player.’
‘Technically he was amazing. The only thing – he was young at the time – was making the right decision, passing when you need to pass. He was dribbling all the time when I was there. But he’s a very sharp, skilful player.’
