Arsenal’s Guendouzi has ‘a very big potential’

Guendouzi impresses for Arsenal

Matteo Guendouzi joined Arsenal in the summer of 2018 from French side, FC Lorient.

The Gunners are believed to have paid in the region of £7.2m for the midfielder’s services.

The season before he signed for Arsenal Guendouzi was only playing Ligue 2 football with Lorient.

However, despite his minimal experience, Guendouzi had a decent debut season in the Premier League.

The 20-year-old played 48 games across all competitions last campaign for Arsenal, scoring one and assisting two.

Guendouzi has also had a solid start to the current season, playing in all four of Arsenal’s league games so far.

Guendouzi called up to France squad

Guendouzi was particularly impressive in the most recent North London derby, where he provided a superb assist for Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang’s equaliser.

Guendouzi’s good form also earned him a call-up to the most recent France squad as a replacement for Manchester United’s Paul Pogba.

Now, in a recent interview, France boss Didier Deschamps has been speaking about Guendouzi.

Deschamps stated that while Guendouzi is still a very young player, he has a very big potential:

“Do not ask too much, he’s a young player, who is still the Espoirs generation, who plays a lot of matches with Arsenal where there is strong competition

“He’s the modern midfielder, box to box as they say there, with a lot of power and technical quality too. He’s there. What I expect from young people is that they bring this freshness, this dynamism.

“He is a very young player but with a very big potential.” As quoted by the Mirror.
